EMF Services provides electromagnetic field testing
and remediation to clients nationwide from locations in Florida and California, specializing
in electromagnetic interference (EMI) investigations and assessment of human exposure to
non-ionizing radiation. Since 1992, we have conducted survey and mitigation projects for
commercial clients, city and county governments, the U.S. government, public and private
schools, property developers, apartment complexes, and several hundred residential customers.
A growing referral
network of independent professionals strategically located across the country has allowed us
to extend our reach geographically. We regularly conduct full scale mitigation projects,
including active magnetic shielding systems, ground current mitigation, and electrical
wiring revisions to achieve NEC compliance.
EMF Services is a small, highly focused
company that is committed to technical excellence and total customer satisfaction.
Our only business is electromagnetic fields. We feel that an objective scientific
approach to this issue, along with proven technological intervention strategies,
offers our clients the best opportunity to move beyond the misinformation
and irrational fear that have long characterized public discussion of EMF.
The business is licensed in Lee County, Florida, and
registered with the Florida Department of State. It Initially operated as Magnetic Assessment,
with a change of name to EMF Services in 1996. Personnel affiliated with the company
hold degrees and/or certifications appropriate to their individual areas of specialization.
Commercial general liability insurance coverage is maintained in amounts of $1,000,000
per occurrence, and $2,000,000 aggregate. We are registered in the Central Contractor
Registration (CCR) database for federal government and defense contracting (CAGE code 1YNN6).
SENIOR STAFF
Charles M. Keen - Principal Technical Representative
Charles Keen has been professionally involved in EMF related
activities since 1992. His background prior to that time spanned nearly two decades in the
telecommunications industry, at a range of technical, engineering, and management positions,
including development of test procedures for RF communications systems. He is an IAEI certified
electrical inspector, a member of the National Electromagnetic Field Testing
Association, the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, and the Bioelectromagnetics
Society, and holds a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland. His
university training focused on environmental health, occupational safety, and risk analysis.
Mr. Keen has performed presentations for a number of real estate, inspection, and school groups,
and was featured in a Washington Post article on public perception of power line magnetic field risk.
His current areas of specialization include active field cancellation, facility electrical systems,
and EMI problem resolution.
Stephen Scott - EMF Remediation Specialist
Stephen Scott has been professionally involved in EMF survey,
abatement, and design work since 1991. He is a member of the International Association of
Electrical Inspectors and the National Electromagnetic Field
Testing Association, and is listed in the Architects and Designers for Social Responsibility
Resource Directory. He is a licensed electrical contractor and licensed general contractor
in the state of California. Stephen has participated in numerous low-EMF design projects,
including Ecology House, an 11 unit non-toxic residential building in San Rafael, CA, the
Los Angeles Department of Environmental Affairs Building, and The Eco-Home, a non-toxic
model home in Los Angeles, CA. He has also managed remediation and construction projects
for numerous high-profile personalities in the entertainment business. Stephen has very likely
performed more EMF related diagnosis and correction of electrical wiring system problems than
anyone currently practicing in the U.S.
Ed Leeper, M.A. - Senior Scientific Associate
Ed Leeper is the physicist co-author, along with epidemiologist
Nancy Wertheimer, of several influential early studies examining the link of cancer with magnetic fields,
and has worked actively with the measurement and mitigation of AC magnetic fields since then. He is
the author of the recent book: Silencing the Fields, A Practical Guide to Reducing AC Magnetic Fields,
and has developed extremely accurate and versatile instrumentation for the measurement of magnetic fields and
electrical transients. Ed's guidance has been instrumental in shaping the operating philosophy of EMF Services since
its inception, especially as it relates to the delivery of objective, science-based services to address
an issue for which the level of risk has not been firmly established. His direct involvement with the research
community consistently provides a depth of insight into the nuances of EMF health effects studies.
